Automazione e soft skills: le macchine ci sostituiranno?

L’intelligenza artificiale (AI), come in passato altre tecnologie, sta trasformando profondamente il mondo in cui viviamo.

La differenza evidente con il passato, però, è la forte accelerazione del cambiamento, che porterà ad una rivoluzione sociale.

Questa velocità di diffusione e di cambiamento delle nuove tecnologie porta con sé vantaggi e svantaggi: da un lato, i software intelligenti sono in grado di portare a termine in modo automatico e autonomo compiti noiosi e ripetitivi, non presentano cali di produttività e svolgono il proprio lavoro in modo preciso e minuzioso; dall’altro lato, però, queste nuove tecnologie sono estremamente costose, mancano di creatività ed empatia e portano ad una riduzione delle opportunità di lavoro.

 

Cosa pensano le persone di questi cambiamenti?

Il rapporto 2019 AIDP – LABLAW su robot, intelligenza artificiale e lavoro ha mostrato come, secondo la maggior parte degli italiani, le macchine non potranno sostituire l’essere umano al lavoro.

Dai dati è emerso che l’89% degli italiani ritiene che l’utilizzo dei robot sia necessario per svolgere le attività più faticose e pericolose per l’uomo, ma che non potrà mai sostituirne completamente l’intervento nei posti di lavoro.

 

La domanda che ci poniamo è: quanto il fattore umano è sostituibile dalla tecnologia?

Sono numerosi i casi in cui l’utilizzo dei robot e dell’AI ha avuto grande successo, come per esempio i casi dell’infermiera Grace, un robot creato in seguito allo scoppio della pandemia da COVID-19 in grado di assistere i pazienti in quarantena, e del robottino Nao, divenuto un riferimento nel campo dell’istruzione e della ricerca e utilizzato, in particolare, nella terapia dell’autismo per aiutare i bambini a comunicare.

Non sempre, però, la tecnologia ha avuto il successo che ci si aspettava. Un esempio riguarda il caso dell’Henn-na Hotel di Nagasaki, un hotel interamente gestito da robot. L’inaugurazione di questo hotel rappresentava una prova di quanto stia accelerando l’automazione del lavoro. Purtroppo, qualcosa è andato storto: l’hotel si è trovato a dover licenziare metà del proprio staff a causa dell’inefficienza dei robot nel soddisfare le richieste dei clienti, sostituendoli con persone in carne ed ossa, che si sono dimostrate più efficienti. Questo è un esempio di come l’introduzione dell’AI, anziché sottrarre lavoro agli umani, ha richiesto l’assunzione di parecchio personale; il che dimostra che esistono delle attività adatte solo alle persone.

Un esempio simile riguarda il robot Fabio, che è stato assunto in un supermercato di Edimburgo per rispondere alle richieste dei clienti e subito licenziato perché incapace di svolgere adeguatamente il proprio lavoro.

Case-studies come questi ci insegnano che l’automazione può essere molto utile per la società, dall’ambito sanitario all’educazione fino alla vita quotidiana, ma non sempre la tecnologia ha successo.

Quello che è certo è che ciò che garantirà la sopravvivenza dell’uomo all’interno del mondo del lavoro è il fatto di possedere delle soft skills e, in particolare, un’intelligenza emotiva, che le macchine non hanno.

Le soft skills sono quelle competenze trasversali che caratterizzano un individuo; risultano essere fondamentali e sempre più richieste all’interno del mondo del lavoro. A fare la differenza saranno la creatività, ossia la capacità di proporre soluzioni nuove e alternative in ogni situazione, e l’intelligenza emotiva, ossia la capacità di provare emozioni, riconoscere le emozioni proprie ed altrui e usarle in modo consapevole e intelligente.

Jack Ma, fondatore di Alibaba, e-commerce cinese, sostiene che non potremo competere con l’intelligenza artificiale, perché è sicuramente più intelligente dell’uomo, ma potremo dar vita ad una generazione di lavoratori più consapevole, creativa e capace di ascoltare gli altri.

Non sappiamo cosa ci riserverà il futuro, ma certamente il fattore umano non potrà mai essere sostituito. Non si esclude una sana collaborazione uomo-macchina.
